Mashiach Ben Chana ·4:24

Lyrics

Once upon a time, a scorpion stood at the Gaza port, desperate to cross the sea. But scorpions can’t swim. A swan passed by. “Can I ride your back?” asked the scorpion.

“No,” said the swan. “You’ll sting me and I’ll die.”

“That’s foolish,” replied the scorpion. “If I sting you, we both die. For my own sake, I won’t sting you.”

The swan agreed. They set out peacefully. But just before reaching shore, the swan felt a sharp sting.

“Why?” cried the swan as they both began to sink. “You’ve killed us both!”

The scorpion replied, “This is Gaza. It’s what we do.”

This story mirrors Hamas’ reality: they are willing to destroy themselves if they can destroy a Jew. As Golda Meir once said, “Peace will come when the Arabs love their children more than they hate ours.”

This week’s Torah portion reads:

“You shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land… But if you do not… they will be as thorns in your eyes and spikes in your sides.” (Numbers 33:55)

Israel withdrew from Gaza to promote peace. What did we get? Rockets, terror tunnels, and the horrors of October 7. A “two-state solution” sounds noble, but it brought destruction. Had we done the same in the West Bank, it would have placed Tel Aviv in direct danger.

This is not about territory. It’s about existence. Our enemies do not seek statehood—they seek the end of the Jewish state. From the river to the sea.

The land of Israel responded to its children returning. For 2,000 years, no conqueror could make it bloom. But when the Jews came home, it flourished—fields, cities, innovation, Torah.

Our soldiers, our youth, are today’s guardians of this land. They do not throw away the keys to our future. They hold them with courage, fighting terror with unwavering resolve.

Nearly 900 soldiers have fallen in two years defending our home. Each loss is heartbreaking. But we know: all the damage we suffer today is less than what Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah had planned. Their plans have been disrupted—miraculously.

This land is ours—not because of politics, but because God said:

“You shall inherit the Land and settle in it, for I have given it to you.”

We must believe it, declare it, and defend it.

Shabbat Shalom and Rosh Chodesh Tov.
