Amaterasu Ōmikami is a goddess in Japanese mythology who embodies three aspects: the sun goddess, the ancestral deity, and the priestess, and she is positioned as the highest among YaoYorozunoKami.
Amaterasu Ōmikami, the sun goddess, hid in a cave (Amano Iwato) to avoid the rough behavior of her younger brother, Susanoo no Mikoto. As a result, the world was plunged into darkness, and the eight million (yaoyorozu) gods gathered at Amanoyasukawara to devise a strategy.
『Yaoyorozu no kami』
This term refers to the collective deities in Shinto, Japan, based on animistic beliefs that gods reside in all aspects of the natural world. This concept is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and religion, playing a significant role in daily life, festivals, and traditional events from ancient times to the present. In Shinto, various elements such as mountains, rivers, trees, animals, plants, natural phenomena, and ancestors of the people are often regarded as sacred and can be deified.
