Time slipped away, left a deeper hole

Had to be cold, had to stay in control

But I lost myself just to play the role

Days flashed by like a dream in flight

Still can't sleep through the heat of night

I wonder now, if I chose right

Or chased the flame and lost the light

Would I be in this state of mind

If I never gave in to the lust, the grind?

If power and money never called my name

Would I still feel this kind of shame?

Now I stand, but it don't feel right

This ain't peace, just learned to fight

Loved like a weapon, moved like a ghost

Chased the high when I needed hope

Told myself I had to survive

But I wonder now, did I kill my vibe?

I see the truth in the mess I made

Buried deep in the choices I gave

Was it worth the heart I lost?

Or just another name I crossed?

Would I be in this state of mind

If I never bowed to the dark, the climb?

If I chose love instead of pride

Would I still be burning up inside?

Now I stand, but I don’t feel free

Just a version of who I used to be

I walked through fire, I walked through shame

But I’m still standing, I’m not the same

Every wound that I thought broke me

Built the backbone they never could see

Would I be in this state of mind

If I never fell just to learn the climb?

I gave it all, yeah, I paid in pain

But I found my strength inside the rain

Now I rise, not who I was before
