Lyrics
Verse
They speak with deceit, with lies not a few,
With flattering lips and hearts untrue.
The Lord shall cut down each flattering tongue,
And silence the boastful words they've strung.
verse
Help, O Lord, the godly now are few;
From among the faithful, are there any who are true?
Some say, "Our lips are ours alone. Who is our lord?"
Others boast, "With our tongues we prevail as with a sword."
Chorus
O Lord, You will guard them to the very end,
Preserve them forever, as a faithful friend.
Though wickedness may rise and evil usher in,
Your protection endures, and Your truth shall win.
Verse
The needy are crushed. The poor are oppressed,
"Now I rise," says the Lord, "and I bring them rest."
Flawless are the Lord’s words, like silver pure,
Refined seven times in a furnace secure.
Verse
"I will protect them, keep them from harmful sway,
From those who now scoff them each and every day.
The wicked prowl on every side, unchecked,
And vile men are honored and receive respect.
Chorus
O Lord, You will guard them to the very end,
Preserve them forever, as a faithful friend.
Though wickedness may rise and evil usher in,
Your protection endures, and Your truth shall win.
