Gotta say that I think this is the most fun challenge I've participated in so far. Finding music for film is part of what I do as a day job, but I've never made something myself, so that was super fascinating and fun. Hey! I made this for The Soundry League bonus competition, where we had to make a song for the soundtrack of a predetermined fictional movie.

*Synopsis:*

"When Nate miraculously survives a freak accident — the kind that should have left nothing but questions and condolences — he finds himself drifting through days, unmoored. One impulsive phone call reconnects him with Eliza, his sharp-witted, once-inseparable college best friend, now living a life just different enough to feel foreign.

Over coffee and shared silences, they remember an old game from their dorm days: a “bucket list” they wrote on a bar napkin, filled with wild, romantic, and absurd goals. Neither of them ever got around to any of it. So they decide to do it now — all of it. Road trips. Impromptu poetry slams. Dancing until sunrise. Stealing flowers from hotel lobbies. They document every item with photos and inside jokes, their laughter as natural as it was ten years ago.

But with each completed task, something changes. First, it’s small: a mutual friend they both remember suddenly doesn’t exist. Then it’s bigger: familiar streets loop back on themselves, the moon shifts position in the sky, and strangers seem to recognize them by name. Soon, the napkin list starts to feel less like a game and more like a set of instructions neither of them wrote.

As the world quietly rewrites itself around them, Nate and Eliza face a truth that neither is ready to say out loud: the final item on the list is “Stop existing.” And it might not be a metaphor.

Equal parts rom-com road movie and existential horror, Everything We Never Did is a story about love — platonic, romantic, and terrifyingly cosmic — and the cost of finishing what you started"

-I'm imagining this either playing during the credits, or during a scene towards the end where the characters are mulling over the final choice they have to make, as they walk around their neighborhood, now just an empty field (which you can see in the video for this).

Was told that the tone was more or less Before Sunrise/Truman Show, but the synopsis definitely felt a bit more Charlie Kaufman to me, honestly, so that was sort of the tone I went with for the video, and decided to go for a more neo-folk/ambient trap vibe for the song itself, to make it sound a bit off, and for a nice constant tension underneath the rather mellow and emotional vocals.
