A wincing smile, a wretched guise,

Where tears are dammed behind your eyes,

And fate has left you in the cold.

A hollow stage, where lies unrolled,

Proclaim that silence must be bold.

Silence, Keenest Sliver, Sharp and Sure

The unasked question burns and aches,

While hope, a timid candle, shakes.

And shadows lengthen to obscure.

Alone, lost on this desolate shore,

What is there to do? What to endure?

But Silence, Sometimes, Love's Embrace

A look exchanged, a truth confessed,

In acts of kindness gently pressed.

A longing lingers in that place,

Through sun and storm, to interlace,

And find solace in all grace.

Silence, A Fog-Bound, Spectral Keep

Where words are ghosts, and shadows loom,

And hearts are shrouded in their gloom.

Despair's cold torrent, dark and deep,

Where broken vows and secrets sleep,

And none can wake from slumber deep.

Silence, Humbling, Heavy Weight

When fortune deals a callous hand,

Acceptance blooms across the land.

The fading promise, sealed by fate,

A narrow path where sorrows create,

A space to grieve and to tolerate.

Yet Silence, Fortress, Strong and High

When envy festers, sharp and mean,

It holds all malice at bay.

Its calm a saving grace.

Where the best friend is wise.
