Hello Everyone,
This is the third song for the shared grimdark fantasy concept that I am doing with BlueEyedGuy. This has been a lot of fun and I look forward to continuing this journey!

Verse 1
A borrowed room, a dim lit space,
The day's performance wiped from face.
I shed the robes, the heavy guise,
Beneath the lamp, with tired eyes.
Just a moment, to be myself,
Before the mask returns to shelf.
The binding stays, the buckles tight,
A moment's respite, from the light.
Chorus
The curtain drawn, the shadow deep,
A secret self, the city keeps.
But in that flicker, raw and true,
A gaze upon me, breaking through.
The beating heart, the sudden fright,
Caught in the fading evening light.
Verse 2
A breath held tight, a stolen glance,
He stumbled backward, as in a trance.
The usual banter, the cutting word,
Was lost and silent, unheard.
His eyes, wide open, saw a view,
I thought was hidden, just for few.
My worn-out tunic, torn and frayed,
My guarded fortress, now betrayed.
Refrain
My unveiled skin, a sudden spark,
Illuminating, in the dark.
He saw the scars, the faded marks,
Beneath the layers, in the dark.
Verse 3
Not just the thief, in leather bound,
But something softer, on hallowed ground.
A silent moment, charged and strange,
My world just shifted, a subtle change.
No witty retort, no angry hiss,
Just awkward quiet, and a stolen kiss
From his eyes to mine, a silent plea,
The air grew heavy, for him and me.
Bridge
The gears inside me grind and lock,
Against the truth, against the clock.
He saw the ruin, the bitter plight,
A broken vessel, in the fleeting light.
The magic in him, so deep and rare,
A whispered sorrow, hung in the air.
Outro
The world went quiet, for a beat,
The bittersweet of this grim retreat.
He sees me, really sees me...
