They say I’m old and soon will end my journey here.
If that’s the case, I’m on my way without a trace of fear.
I’ve made my peace with God above, Heaven will be my home.
What’s up ahead for me in life to God alone is known.

While here below I’ll do my best to help my fellow man,
To make on earth a higher ground for everyone to stand.
Some day, when people ask, just how my race was run,
I’ll say to them that most of it has been a lot of fun.

I’ll tell them that all was good, with honesty and pride.
I’ll finish well and say to all that I am satisfied.
Five senses we were given when placed upon this earth.
I’ve used them all and I have tested each one’s worth.

I’ve seen the setting of the sun too beautiful for words.
I’ve heard the joy of nature’s choir in the singing of the birds.
I’ve felt the wind upon my skin and I’ve known it’s awesome power.
I’ve smelled the rose along the way, the world’s most fragrant flower.
I’ve tasted all the bounty that this old earth can give,
I guess I’ve found the secret to how all of us should live,
As I abide, I’m satisfied.

I’ve walked those prairie roads among the waving grain,
I’ve stood beside a riverbank in sunshine and in rain.
I’ve had my ups and downs in life, I’ve known both joy and pain,
But when we say “all’s said and and done” I’d live it all again.

I’ve worked at many kinds of jobs within my expertise
And tried to do each one of them with diligence and ease.
If I failed at anything at least I know I’ve tried.
When I look back upon my life I find I’m satisfied.

I’ve wandered through the forests green, I’ve climbed the mountain high.
I’ve lain on my back on a sunny beach, just looking at the sky.
I’ve loved a wife and she loves me, I have children I adore.
I have heirs to carry on and I’m sure there will be more.
The conclusion of it all, with bad things set aside, I have to say that in the end
I find I’m satisfied.
