Don't blow, wind, don't blow,

Don't just pass, licking my forehead.

There's fire burning in my head,

Don't scatter my flames afar.

I’m like a torrent tumbling down the mountain,

like a branch weighed down with snow,

like a dried-up gazelle (lost in the desert)—

Don’t cast me to the four winds.

Burning as I touch the soil,

Whirling across the flat plains,

Raising up on the lofty mountains,

Don't lie in hollow streams.

Don't waste your swift speed,

Don't play the branches’ lute,

Don't hide the shining moon

Beneath your dark clouds.
