With rusted hooks on long wooden poles,

They tear octopus from rock-guarded holes.

Tearing mussels their dirty hands can clutch,

Always scavenging far too much.

They claim it’s hunger, that’s their excuse,

But sell for profit to fund their abuse.

The tide comes back to claim the shore,

But the sea won’t forget what came before.

Rising waters push them out of sight,

Leaving behind their waste in broad daylight.
