Running through the forest, shadows all around

Moonlight barely touches this cold, quiet ground

Her little paws vanished, the night swallowed her sound

Branches scratch her skin, the wind whispers lies

She calls for her kitty, but only echoes reply

Fear wraps her tightly, under the endless sky

Alone, freezing, trembling, she sinks with a sigh

Then flickers in the darkness, soft and faint

A gentle glow, like a painting she can’t taint
