Lyrics

Thank you for losing yourself with me! 🎧 'Strobe Amnesia' is for everyone who's ever stood in a club wondering why we do this, then the bass drops and you remember exactly why. Whether this makes you want to move or just appreciate the absurd beauty of collective temporary madness, I'm grateful you're here. Keep finding your reset, however it looks 💥🇬🇧 Much love! —TomFrancO

UK garage club banger at 130 BPM in F# Minor, The Streets meets Boiler Room Ibiza energy. Classic 2-step garage shuffle, skippy snares syncopated, deep sub-bass rumbling 50Hz club system shake, crisp hi-hats chopped, kick pattern driving relentless. Male vocal British accent thick authentic, talk-rap delivery conversational Mike Skinner style, prosaic observations over energetic beats, storytelling meets dancefloor euphoria. Synths stabs garage classic wobbly bass modulated, pad atmospheres Balearic influenced warm, vocal chops pitched sampled throughout. Production club-ready punchy, compression heavy dancefloor energy, reverb minimal tight club acoustics, stereo width maximized. Themes: Disorientation blissful on dancefloor, losing time perception willingly, strobe lights fragmenting reality, collective amnesia temporary, strangers becoming temporary family, absurdity paying to lose yourself, sensory overload as reset, bass replacing heartbeat physically, sweat and bodies unified experience. Not romantic clubbing just honest observation, British humor self-aware, hedonism acknowledged not glorified. Contemporary UK garage storytelling rare combination, Mike Skinner prosaic detail meeting club functionality, lyrics riding beat not fighting, hooks catchy singable shoutable, energy infectious communal euphoric.

INTRO: GARAGE BUILD

2-step shuffle establishing 130 BPM, Sub-bass rumble, Hi-hats skippy syncopated, Garage synth stabs wobbly, Vocal chops pitched "lost lost lost" sampled

Club atmosphere building, No main vocal yet, Pure energy

VERSE 1: STORYTELLING CONVERSATIONAL

Beat drops full 2-step garage pattern, Sub-bass heavy club shake, Male vocal British accent thick authentic talk-rap Mike Skinner delivery, Riding beat conversational not aggressive

Walked in the venue, can't remember when that was though (WAS though)

Could've been an hour, could've been three, the clock's irrelevant bro (IRR-el-ev-ant)

Already soaked through my shirt, and I only just got here I swear (I SWEAR)

But the speakers are shaking my ribcage, and honestly I don't care (don't CARE)

There's a bird to my left who I danced with before, or was that someone else? (someone ELSE?)

Can't tell faces apart when the strobes keep cutting reality up on the shelf (on the SHELF)

My phone's been ringing for ages, could be work, could be mum, who knows (who KNOWS)

But I'm locked in this bassline prison, and I'm not trying to go (trying to GO)

PRE-CHORUS: ENERGY BUILDING

Snares rolling building tension, Sub-bass sliding up, Synth stabs increasing frequency, Vocal more rhythmic emphatic

Can't feel my legs but I'm moving (MOV-ing!)

Don't know these people but we're grooving (GROOV-ing!)

Lost all sense of where I came from (CAME from!)

Bass replaced my heartbeat, now we're one (now we're ONE!)

CHORUS: ANTHEM SHOUT

Full energy drop, All elements maxed, Sub-bass earthquake, Vocal shouty but not screaming controlled club energy, Crowd would sing this back

Strobe amnesia got me feeling reborn! (re-BORN!)

Don't know who I was before I walked through that door! (that DOOR!)

Bodies moving like we're wired to the sound! (the SOUND!)

Temporary family, we're holding it down! (holding it DOWN!)

Strobe amnesia, yeah we're losing the plot! (the PLOT!)

Paying good money just to forget what we've got! (what we've GOT!)

But right here, right now, in this sweaty room! (sweaty ROOM!)

Nothing exists except the bass and the boom! (bass and the BOOM!)

VERSE 2: OBSERVATIONS DETAILED

Beat strips slightly more space for vocal, Sub-bass still heavy, Hi-hats more prominent, Talk-rap conversational intimate despite volume

Bloke in the corner's been checking his watch for the past ten minutes straight (minutes STRAIGHT)

Mate, if you're not feeling it, there's an exit, don't stand there and wait (stand there and WAIT)

Girl by the speakers looks proper gone, eyes rolled back in her skull (back in her SKULL)

But she's smiling wide, and her arms are up, she's riding the pull (riding the PULL)

The DJ's mixing something filthy, and the whole room just contracted (con-TRACT-ed)

Like we're all one organism, collectively distracted (dis-TRACT-ed)

From rent, from work, from everything that makes us feel small (feel SMALL)

Right now we're giants made of sweat and bass, standing ten feet tall (ten feet TALL)

PRE-CHORUS 2: INTENSITY RISING

Build more aggressive, Snares faster, Vocal chops "lost in it" layered background, Energy peaking

My shirt's stuck to my back like glue (like GLUE!)

Can't see straight but the vibe's coming through (coming THROUGH!)

Strangers' elbows in my ribs, don't mind (don't MIND!)

We're all here losing track of time (losing TIME!)

BRIDGE: BREAKDOWN INTROSPECT

Beat strips to just sub-bass pulse and minimal hi-hats, Vocal quieter more intimate observation, Moment of clarity in chaos

(Talk-rap intimate philosophical)

It's mad innit, how we do this (how we DO this)

Pay twenty quid to stand in a box with strangers (with STRAN-gers)

Let some geezer play records while we lose our minds temporary (TEM-por-ar-y)

And for what? (for WHAT?)

For this (for THIS!)

For the feeling that nothing else matters except the next drop (next DROP)

For the communal forgetting (for-GET-ting)

For the reset button we all need but won't admit (won't ad-MIT)

FINAL CHORUS: MAX EUPHORIA

Everything slams back harder, Sub-bass distorted intentional, All synths screaming, Vocal layers multiple simultaneous, Peak club energy

Strobe amnesia got me feeling reborn! (FEEL-ing re-BORN!)

Don't know who I was before I walked through that door! (walked through that DOOR!)

Bodies moving like we're wired to the sound! (WIRED to the SOUND!)

Temporary family, we're holding it down! (WE'RE hold-ing it DOWN!)

Strobe amnesia, yeah we're losing the plot! (LOS-ing the PLOT!)

Paying good money just to forget what we've got! (for-GET what we've GOT!)

But right here, right now, in this sweaty room! (in this SWEAT-y ROOM!)

Nothing exists except the bass and the boom! (BASS and the BOOM!)

OUTRO: PEAK THEN CUT

Energy maintains maximum, Then sudden cut to just sub-bass rumble fading, No gradual fade just hard stop like club lights coming on, Reality crashes back

Spoken over fading bass, exhausted but satisfied

Yeah... that'll do...

Same again next week then?

Hard cut to silence

END

Behind 'Strobe Amnesia' 🎧

Inspired by The Streets' Boiler Room set at Amnesia Ibiza - that specific energy when UK garage storytelling meets pure dancefloor euphoria.

This track is about that blissful disorientation you get in a proper club. You can't remember when you arrived, everyone's a stranger but you're dancing together like family, the bass replaces your heartbeat, and for however long you're in there, nothing else exists. It's temporary amnesia we pay for willingly.

I wanted to capture Mike Skinner's prosaic observation style but apply it to peak club energy. The British humor is there - acknowledging the absurdity of paying money to stand in a sweaty box losing our minds - but also the genuine magic of that collective reset we all need —TomFrancO
