Another year behind me,

I’m really feelin’ old.

I got a small beer belly,

and a weather-worn billfold.

When I come home, I’m tired,

my hair is turning grey.

But she is not complaining--

she loves me anyway.

We were childhood sweethearts

and always knew someday

that we would end up married

and always stay that way.

And that’s just what we did

when we were old enough.

Our hearts were full of innocence

and overflowing love.

With every year that passed

after we said, “I do,”

we scrimped and saved our cash,

but always made it through.

We didn’t stop to notice

the wrinkles setting in.

And she never mentioned

my hair was wearing thin.

We built our life together

and raised a family.

I was good to her

and she was good to me.

The house grew very quiet

when the kids all moved away,

but she didn’t mind it ‘cause

she loves me any way.

I guess I’ve just been lucky,

at least that’s what they say.

No matter where life takes us,

she loves me anyway.
