In the dense forest

I am a bird without wings

Treading softly in the shadows of night

Guided by the scent

Of secrets hidden beneath fallen leaves

They say

I cannot fly

But who can claim this isn’t

Another form of freedom

My feathers

like strands of hair

Brush gently in the breeze

Dancing in the darkness

Even without wings
