Two snowflakes fell from skies so high,

A journey long, beneath the eye

Of winter's gaze, a frosty scene,

They reached for hands, a silent sheen.

'Oh, isn't it lovely to fly so free?'

The first one said, with glee.

'We're not flying, dear, we're falling down,'

The second snowflake told, with a frown.

'Soon we'll land, a blanket white,

With all our kin, a wondrous sight.'

'When we touch ground, our lives will cease,

Crushed beneath a boot, find no release.'

'When spring arrives, a stream we'll be,

Flowing onwards, wild and free,

To rivers grand, then to the sea,

A journey vast, for you and me.'

'We'll melt away, a memory faint,

Lost to the world, a fleeting saint.'

The argument, a weary strain,

Their tiny hands, they did unchain.

Alone they fell, each on their way,

To meet the fate, come what may.

No longer bound, a shared belief,

Each chose her path, to find relief.

One saw a future, bright and bold,

The other, a story to be told.

And so they fell, in silent grace,

Two snowflakes, in time and space,

Each with its dream.

A different fate for both of them.
