Lyrics
When We Were Young vs. Now We’re Old (And Having a Ball)
When we were young, we stayed up late,
Dancing ‘til dawn like, “Sleep can wait!”
Now we’re older, let’s tell the truth…
If you call after 9… we blocking you! 😂
When we were young, oh we were bold,
Now we say, “Wait… this weather is cold.”
We carry sweaters everywhere we go,
Because air conditioner ain’t our friend no more!
We used to jump up like nothing hurt,
Running, laughing, playing in dirt…
Now we stand up slow like, “Hold on… wait…”
Let me find my balance… let me cooperate!
Pain hits now like a mystery show,
We wake up like, “Why my elbow?”
Didn’t fall, didn’t fight, didn’t trip, didn’t crawl…
Just slept wrong… now I can’t move at all! 😂
We used to know every song on the radio,
Every dance, every beat, every video.
Now we hear music and we just say “Wow…”
“I don’t know what they saying… but turn that mess down.”
When we were young, we could eat anytime,
Midnight chicken, 2am fries.
Now we look at food and pray real hard,
“Lord, don’t let this bread bother my heartburn and my yard!” 😆
We used to walk fast, hips swinging wide,
Now it’s knees cracking, with Bengay on the side.
We used to stunt in heels or clean gator shoes,
Now it’s orthopedic comfort — we refuse to lose!
We used to fall in love fast with a kiss,
Now we fall… and hope we didn’t break a wrist.
Doctors know us better than Amazon Prime,
Appointments got appointments… we stay booked all the time.
We used to remember every name we knew,
Now we say, “Hey baby… how are you?”
We whisper to somebody, “Who is that man?”
They say his name… and we still say, “Say it again…” 😂
We used to party all night without shame,
Now that same body needs naps just from getting dressed and leaving the frame.
We sit down “just for a minute,” next thing you know…
We snoring, mouth open, on the couch in a show.
And church? Oh Lord, listen here…
Used to shout and dance and holler with cheer.
Now we praising God the whole way through,
But we also praying chairs got back support too!
Yet through these laughs, one truth we hold:
There’s something beautiful about growing old.
We got wisdom, love, and stories to tell,
Faith in our hearts, and we wear it well.
So here’s to the wrinkles, the naps, and the fun,
To forgetting where we going… and still going anyway just to run.
Because aging ain’t sad — it’s a blessing we see,
We’re older, we’re bolder, and still happy as can be! 💖
