A bright playful bossa-nova anime opening with Japanese instruments and a retro shopping-street atmosphere. 118–130 BPM. Nylon guitar bossa comping, Rhodes, jazz drums (rimshot/brush), electric bass. Koto arpeggios, shamisen rhythmic accents, shinobue melodic lines, suzu/hyoshigi/kogutsu for fox-like cues. Major key with jazz tensions (maj7, add9). Warm, comedic, slightly mystical—like a fox-filled Kansai 商店街.

Lyrics

[English Sub below.]
[intro]

[verse 1]

[pre-chorus]

[chorus]

[interlude]

[verse 2]

[pre-chorus 2]

[chorus 2]

[bridge]

[final chorus]

[outro]

[End]

🦊Liner Notes (English Version)

There is an anime called Abenobashi Mahō★Shōtengai—
a playful mix of comedy, fantasy, and a touch of romance, all loosely inspired by Osaka’s Abeno district and its connection to Abe no Seimei.
It’s quirky, chaotic, and wonderfully hard to categorize.

Whenever I think about that show, another figure inevitably comes to mind:
Kuzunoha the Fox, the legendary mother of Seimei.
And with her, the quiet presence of the Shinoda Forest and its Kuzunoha Inari Shrine,
which has long been associated with her story.

Of course, writing a song directly about real shrines or locations felt a bit too close to home.
So instead, I imagined a fictional shopping street where fox spirits quietly blend into everyday life—
a place I call Kuzuha Kitsune Shōtengai.

Into this slightly mysterious, slightly warmhearted town,
a young newcomer arrives and gradually finds herself involved with its fox residents.
The result is a gentle, heartwarming comedy wrapped in a faint shimmer of folklore.

I wrote this song while picturing an old-fashioned shopping street at dusk—
paper lanterns glowing, a light breeze,
and fox tails flicking just out of sight.
A place where humans and foxes share the same rhythm without making a fuss about it.

🦊English Lyrics — “Kuzuha Kitsune Shōtengai Rhapsody”

[intro]

Kon-kon, my heartbeat jumps,
fluttering like a little tail inside my chest.

[verse 1]

Here in Kuzuha’s shopping street,
paper lantern shadows flutter down,
and somehow the warmth gathers right around my feet.
On an old wooden sign, a shining tail slips past,
and down the back alley
a brand-new shadow quietly appears.

Before I know it, the air begins to stir again—
is this love or something strange?
Either way, both are smiling at me,
and my heart leans forward on its own.

[pre-chorus]

A straight, pure presence
tickles deep inside my chest,
and even when I try to hold myself back,
my steps keep speeding up.

[chorus]

A runaway tail outraces my trembling heart,
lighting me up inside
like a tiny spark of foxfire.
Every breeze that cuts across my cheek
brings a sweet new sign of something bright,
even the storefronts lined along the street
seem to beckon me onward.

With foxes and love all tangled together,
I’m running again today.

[interlude]

(instrumental)

[verse 2]

On the café table—someone left fried tofu.
Maybe they meant it as today’s service?
A warmth without a reason
settles softly at my fingertips.
Each time we pass,
night’s faint aura seeps a little deeper,
and I notice I’m no longer bothered
by being tricked a little.

The border of the world wavers lightly,
and everyday life grows hazy at the edges—
yet somehow I don’t want to leave this place at all.

[pre-chorus 2]

The light soaking through my chest
washes each doubt away.
That graceful swaying tail—
I just can’t help chasing it.

[chorus 2]

My skipping heartbeat bursts ahead,
running into distances I can’t yet see.
Every time a leaf’s small shadow trembles,
today’s secrets quietly multiply.
A tail sways lightly—
and love is still halfway through.

[bridge]

A presence I shouldn’t be able to touch
softly lights the deepest part of the night,
and only the center of my chest
fills with gentle heat.

Even in a world that feels like an illusion,
the footprints left behind are real,
guiding my fingertips forward.

[final chorus]

The shimmer of foxfire
repaints the streets of this little town,
and the rhythm of my racing feelings
leaps past the glow of a white fox tail.

[outro]

With love and trickery bundled together,
I’ll carry them into tomorrow—
as long as my kon-kon heartbeat leads the way.

With love and trickery bundled together,
a swaying fox tail in the air—
and love is still halfway through.
