I woke up early with a solid plan

Coffee in my hand, phone in the other hand

Checked one thing, then checked it twice

Somehow ended up reading comments from 2009

I folded laundry, then unfolded it

Started a list, then I lost the list

Looked at the clock like it lied to me

Swore it was noon, but it’s three-thirty

I swear I had intentions

They were very well behaved

They just slipped out the back door

When I wasn’t looking straight

I meant to be productive today

But the day had other things to say

I chased a thought, I made a mess

I almost did my very best

Sent a text, forgot to press send

Found it later, laughed again

Cleaned the sink, burned the toast

Multitasked myself into a ghost

Tried to focus, tried to breathe

Tried not to spiral over spilled tea

If effort counts for anything

I should be winning something

I even named them all

But life keeps rearranging

Every time I try to stall
