Atmospheric Gothic Rock arrangement in mind—think heavy reverb, a driving but somber bassline, and ethereal synth overlays. Piano dark.

Lyrics
The clouds part like a funeral shroud
As I descend through the blackened mist
No trumpet sounds, no choir is loud
Just the cold stone that the moonlight kissed
My wings are heavy with the scent of pine
And the weight of secrets the earth must keep
I walk the border, the silver line
Between the waking and the eternal sleep.
In the graveyard, I am the silent breath
The shield of honor in the house of death
I watch the spirits drift beyond the veil
Through the marble halls and the iron rail
When the living forget what the hallowed owe
I protect the dignity of those below.
I see the woman in the tattered lace
Drowning the soil with her salt and grief
She touches the name on a granite face
Searching for mercy and a moment’s relief
But then come the shadows with hollow hearts
Who mock the silence and kick the urns
Before their malice or their desecration starts
The fire of my vigil silently burns.
You shall not tread on the quiet dust
You shall not shatter the holy trust
Though their lungs are empty and their eyes are dim
Their light is guarded by a Seraphim
I am the wall, I am the blade
For the ones who rest in the cypress shade!
I watch the souls like sparks in the night
Rising up from the heavy clay
Flickering embers of golden light
Finding the path to the "Far Away"
They leave behind the names and the dates
While I stay behind at the rusted gates
To catch the tears of the ones who mourn
And mend the respect that the cruel have torn.
In the graveyard, I am the silent breath
The shield of honor in the house of death
I watch the spirits drift beyond the veil
Through the marble halls and the iron rail
When the living forget what the hallowed owe
I protect the dignity of those below.
Rest now... I am here.
The dirt is heavy, but the soul is clear.
In the graveyard...
In the graveyard...
I keep the watch.
