"The Little Prince, Reimagined"
He arrived in a golden suit, much too formal for the desert. His hair was not unlike a comet, and his eyes had seen entire galaxies crumble.
"I am a prince," he said. "But I own nothing."
I offered him water. He declined. I offered him knowledge. He declined. I offered him a tax-free investment portfolio, and he asked what "taxes" were.
"The problem," he said, "is that grown-ups love numbers."
I told him about mortgages, credit scores, the way the world calculates worth. He told me about baobabs, foxes, and the loneliness of a single star in the vast dark.
I asked him to stay. He smiled like someone who knew too much. He picked up a handful of sand, let it slip through his fingers, and disappeared.

"The Prince Who Owns Nothing"
He walked in golden light
hair like a comet, eyes like time
Said he was a prince
but the kingdom was gone
the crown misplaced, and nothing weighed him down
He asked me why numbers matter
why stars don’t charge rent
why silence is louder than gold
Tell me how you measure a life
Is it in hours, in debts, in dust
Tell me if the sky still shines
or if it learned to count like us
I’d give him my name, my coins, my throne
but all he wanted was the wind
He laughed when I said money sings
He cried when I spoke of years
The sand poured from his hands
he left without sound, without footprints
Somewhere in the quiet
somewhere in the air
he owns nothing—
and so owns everything
Tell me if the sky still shines
or if it learned to count like us
