Lyrics
Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva,
while practicing deeply the Perfection of Wisdom,
clearly saw that all five skandhas are empty,
thus transcending all suffering and distress.
Shariputra,
form does not differ from emptiness,
emptiness does not differ from form.
Form itself is emptiness,
emptiness itself is form.
The same is true of sensation, perception, volition, and consciousness.
Shariputra,
all phenomena are marked by emptiness:
not born, not destroyed,
not stained, not pure,
not increasing, not decreasing.
Therefore,
in emptiness there is no form,
no sensation, perception, volition, or consciousness;
no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind;
no sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharmas;
no realm of the eye, up to no realm of mind-consciousness.
No ignorance and also no ending of ignorance,
up to no aging and death, and no ending of aging and death.
No suffering, no cause of suffering,
no cessation, no path.
No wisdom and no attainment.
With nothing to attain,
the Bodhisattva relies on the Perfection of Wisdom,
and their mind is without hindrance.
Without hindrance, there is no fear.
Far beyond all inverted views,
they dwell in Nirvana.
All Buddhas of the past, present, and future
rely on the Perfection of Wisdom,
and thus attain the highest, most complete enlightenment.
Therefore, know that the Perfection of Wisdom
is the great miraculous mantra,
the great bright mantra,
the supreme mantra,
the unequalled mantra,
which removes all suffering—true and not false.
Therefore, the mantra of the Perfection of Wisdom is spoken:
Gate Gate Pāragate Pārasaṃgate Bodhi Svāhā.
Gate Gate Pāragate Pārasaṃgate Bodhi Svāhā.
Gate Gate Pāragate Pārasaṃgate Bodhi Svāhā.
