それから 眠りのうちに

おまへらの夢のおくに

それから くりかへしくりかへして

うたつてゐてあげよう

おやすみ やさしい顔した娘たち

おやすみ やはらかな黒い髪を編んで

おまへらの枕もとに

胡桃色にともされた

燭台のまはりには

快活な何かが宿つてゐる

私はいつまでも

うたつてゐてあげよう

私はくらい窓の外に

さうして窓のうちに

それから 眠りのうちに

Good night, sweet-faced girls.

Good night, braided soft black hair.

At your bedside, around the walnut-lit candlesticks, something vivacious dwells.

(All over the world it's snowing lightly and powdery.)

I will sing to you forever,

I will be outside the dark window,

and so within the window.

Then in sleep, in the depths of your dreams,

then I will sing to you over and over again.

Like a lighted fire

Like the wind

Like a star

My voice is a breath of air

Here and there ......

And you see the apple's white flower bloom

And the little green fruit

And you watch them

ripen to red in your brief slumber
