Motherwort, known in Chinese as Yì Mǔ Cǎo (益母草), bears a name that directly translates to "Benefits Mother Herb," clearly indicating its primary traditional applications in women's health within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The most commonly referenced species is Leonurus japonicus, though other Leonurus species are used similarly across different herbal traditions. It is an herbaceous plant, typically belonging to the mint family.
