The wind hums songs I used to know,

Soft and distant, a long-lost glow.

I chase the melody, grasp at the past,

But nothing was made to hold or last.

Footsteps linger, then fade in the dust,

Nothing remains but echoes and rust.

I close my eyes, let the moment be,

A story once written, set adrift in the sea.
