my head never hurt

when i was three

when i was free

when i was me

my heart didn't break

when i was five

i was alive

no need to hide

but then

somehow when

while passing ten

i learned to question

the ways of men

and as a teen

i split the scene

despised routine

confused the serene

became machine

and here i stayed

a renegade

in retrograde

with freedom paid

for this senseless charade

i say...

no!

i cried "i've died"

to myself have lied

and wrongly blamed outside

for my hidden pride

yet to fall was not enough

of stench

this trench

i came to defend

and pretend

was my friend

but that was then

you can say it's lucky

call it fate

but i say

to the inside turned

and paid

with this torn down barricade

and my will to be

finally and

consciously

intentionally free
