At the colors of sunset,

near the harbor by the shore,

a little boat was drifting there,

rocking soft and small.

Children of the island

still knew nothing of the world.

Laughing in the fading breeze,

I only watched in silence.

Beyond the quiet inlet,

the shadow of the boat grew long.

No matter what I held in my hands,

nothing could reach that place.
