By 1999, T-Muths was the undisputed biggest band in Puerto Rico, driven by their monstrous Latin Metal hit, "Derritiendo." Written by the band's enigmatic founder and frontman, Teemuth, the explosive track took the country by storm, reaching Number 1 internationally and even cracking the US Billboard charts after the band opened for Californian alt-rock superstars No Shirts. Tragically, the band's meteoric rise was cut short just months after the tour when Teemuth passed away from a bizarre and fatal overdose, reportedly caused by drinking too much tea. This highly unusual and untimely death instantly elevated him to mythical status within the Caribbean music scene, permanently cementing T-Muths' legacy and ensuring "Derritiendo" remains an immortal hallmark of 90s Latin rock.
