Nick Drake (1948–1974) was an English singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist whose delicate, introspective music went largely unnoticed in his lifetime but later became deeply influential. Signed to Island Records while studying at Cambridge, he released three albums: Five Leaves Left (1969), Bryter Layter (1971), and Pink Moon (1972).

Pink Moon, his final album, stripped away the lush arrangements of his earlier work, leaving only his haunting voice and intricate guitar playing. Drake, who struggled with depression and avoided live performances, withdrew from the public eye after its release. He died at 26 from an overdose of antidepressants.

Though overlooked at the time, his music was rediscovered in the late 1970s and has since influenced artists like Robert Smith, Kate Bush, and Beck. Today, Pink Moon stands as a stark, timeless masterpiece, cementing Drake’s place as a singular voice in folk music history.
