Mother said I was beautiful

But she never wanted a son

She told me to keep it all in

Then she shot herself with a gun

Preacher man said God loves me

So I sent him to heaven

Father took me to church one day

And I asked him who my mother was

Teacher said I could be someone

So I asked for the same education

The white children received

Then they told me to leave

I told a woman I loved her

She told me I was sick

Took me to the doctor

And I was strapped to a bed

I cried to God

Said

"I didn't ask to be born"

Said

"I could've had a family

But you sent me here instead"

The doctor told me to let go

Of all my bitterness

I asked him

"How do I do that?"

Then he hit me with a hammer
