Lyrics
Shakespeare fordítás
XLIII. Szonett
Én legjobban lehunyt szemmel látok,
éberen, mit nézek, felesleges,
de csak téged láttatnak az álmok,
- mi nappal fénylik, éjjel is fényes.
Árnyékod nincs, mert a fény magad vagy,
- biztos boldog alakot öltene...
Tisztább sugárral ragyogsz, mint a Nap,
látja; - akár világtalan szeme.
Enyémek is Boldogak lennének,
élő nappal is betelve veled,
árnyként kísértenek a holt éjek,
tökéletlen marad így álomképed…
Sötét a nap, míg nem mutatkozol,
éjem fényes, az álmom - rólad szól.
I see the clearest with my eyes closed,
what I gaze at awake is meaningless,
for only dreams will let me behold you,
—what shines by day is bright by night no less.
You cast no shadow, for you are the light,
—surely joy itself would take your form...
You gleam more purely than the Sun’s own might,
seen even by eyes in blindness worn.
Mine too would be blessed beyond measure,
in waking day fulfilled with you entire,
yet haunted by dead nights without pleasure,
your dream-image fades, flawed by desire...
The day is dark until you appear,
my night is radiant—dreaming you near.
The oroginal:
XLIII.
When most I wink, then do mine eyes best see,
For all the day they view things unrespected;
But when I sleep, in dreams they look on thee,
And darkly bright are bright in dark directed.
Then thou, whose shadow shadows doth make bright,
How would thy shadow’s form form happy show
To the clear day with thy much clearer light,
When to unseeing eyes thy shade shines so!
How would, I say, mine eyes be blessed made
By looking on thee in the living day,
When in dead night thy fair imperfect shade
Through heavy sleep on sightless eyes doth stay!
All days are nights to see till I see thee,
And nights bright days when dreams do show thee me.
