Lyrics
** Poem - "Dziś idę walczyć - Mamo!..." - Józef Andrzej Szczepański “Ziutek” (1922-1944), died fighting in the Warsaw Uprising. Translated by me. **
Today I'm going to fight - Mother dear,
Maybe I won't come back here,
Maybe I'll fall just the same,
Like thousands who died for this name
Polish soldiers who gave their lives away
For our freedom and our sacred way.
I believe in Poland with all my soul.
And in our righteous, holy goal.
Today I'm going to fight - Mother, don't you cry,
Don't weep, don't mourn, just smile with pride,
My heart is beating wild and free,
My heart sings out so strong in me.
It feels so damn good to hold this gun tight
And laugh at death with all my might,
Then stand and fight without fear or dread
For country! For honor we've bled!
Today I'm going to fight - Mother!...
