Der Morgen bricht, doch ich bleib liegen,

die Decke schwer wie nasser Schnee.

Gedanken kreisen, schneiden, wie Klingen,
(Thoughts circle, cutting like blades,)

kein Schritt hinaus, tut viel zu weh.
(not a single step outside, it hurts far too much.)

(Es ist nur Müdigkeit… nur Müdigkeit…)

Die Wände rücken näher, still und grau,
(The walls move closer, silent and gray,)

die Luft wird dünn in meiner Brust.
(the air grows thin in my chest.)

Ich sehe Träume, fern und flau,
(I see dreams, distant and faint,)

verblasst im Staub von alter Lust.
(faded in the dust of former longing.)

Die Hände kalt, der Blick so leer,
(My hands are cold, my gaze so empty,)

die Stimme bricht in meinem Kopf.
(the voice inside my head is breaking.)

Ich wollte mehr… ich wollte mehr,
(I wanted more… I wanted more,)

doch Hoffnung hängt am letzten Tropf.
(but hope hangs from the last drip.)

Ich spüre Zeit, doch sie bewegt mich nicht,

wie eingefroren im eigenen Licht.

Ich seh die Türen, doch kann sie nicht öffnen,

als wär mein Wille im Eis verklebt.
(as if my will were glued shut in ice.)

Frieren, unter der Haut,

Frieren, lautlos und taub.

doch alles in mir erstarrt zu Staub.

Doch tief im Eis schlägt noch ein Funken,
(But deep within the ice, a spark still beats,)

der leise meinen Namen sprach.
(that softly spoke my name.)

Frieren, du hältst mich nieder,

doch ich steh langsam auf.
(but I slowly rise.)

Mit zitternden Knien, mit brennenden Tränen,
(With trembling knees, with burning tears,)

nehm ich den ersten Schritt in Kauf.
(I accept the cost of the first step.)

Der Morgen kommt, und ich steh auf.

Das Eis zerbricht, ganz Stück für Stück…

und unter Frost wächst neues Glück.
