Lyrics
Intro – 0:00–0:25
(Instrumental build, chopped vocal samples)
"We need a break, break, break... oh-oh-oh..."
Verse 1 – Female Vocal 1 (The Teacher) – 0:25–0:55
Monday morning, papers on my desk,
Thirty voices screaming, I can’t rest.
Chalk dust, coffee, running down the hall,
Smiling while I’m losing it all.
Lesson plans and deadlines tight,
Dreaming of a beach at night...
Pre-Chorus – Female Vocal 1 – 0:55–1:10
I’m counting down the minutes,
Till I’m out of sight and gone,
Just me and the sunlight,
Dancing ‘til the dawn!
Chorus – All Together – 1:10–1:40
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
From nine to five, we fade, fade, fade – can’t stay!
Turn the lights down low, let the rhythm play,
We’re burning out, but tonight we’ll blaze!
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
(Oh-oh-oh, take me away!)
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
Drop – 1:40–2:10
(Synth lead riff, chopped “We need a break!” vocals)
Verse 2 – Female Vocal 2 (The Assistant) – 2:10–2:40
Typing all day, screen so bright,
Smiling through another fight.
Boss wants magic, I’m out of air,
Copy, paste, repeat – despair!
Emails, meetings, lost in space,
I need waves to kiss my face...
Pre-Chorus – Female Vocal 2 – 2:40–2:55
My mind’s already flying,
Somewhere far from here,
The bassline’s calling louder,
Let’s disappear!
Chorus – All Together – 2:55–3:25
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
From nine to five, we fade, fade, fade – can’t stay!
Turn the lights down low, let the rhythm play,
We’re burning out, but tonight we’ll blaze!
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
(Oh-oh-oh, take me away!)
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
Bridge – Male Vocal (The Construction Worker) – 3:25–3:50
Hammer hits, and sweat on my brow,
Same damn street, same damn town.
Steel and dust, but I’m still alive,
Gonna trade my boots for neon lights tonight!
Final Chorus – All Vocals – 3:50–4:30
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
From nine to five, we fade, fade, fade – can’t stay!
We’re chasing stars, we’re feeling free,
Just you and you and him and me!
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
(Oh-oh-oh, take me away!)
We need a break, break, break – take me away!
Outro – 4:30–4:50
(Soft synth fade, echoing vocals)
"Take me away... we need a break... we need a break..."
