Lyrics
Bon 14 juillet. Vive la France ! đ«đ·
đŹđ§ English Translation
History has always been one of my greatest passions.
Not only because it teaches us where we come from, but because it holds the answers to our present and the possibilities of our future.
And among all the periods that expose the essence of humanity, with its heroic impulses and its darkest depths, the French Revolution stands out.
Its causes and consequences. Its blood and its thought.
Its figures, real or imagined, that still live on in our collective memory.
This song does not aim to tell the whole story of the Revolution.
It focuses instead on a crucial moment: the storming of the Bastille, a symbol of collapse and rebirth, of violence and hope. It does so in an epic, romanticized way, taking many poetic liberties.
And it does so through a character who never truly existed, yet has left a deeper mark on our imagination than many historical figures.
I am speaking of Oscar François de Jarjayes, the tragic and unforgettable heroine created by the amazing mangaka Riyoko Ikeda, made famous by the anime ăă«ă”ă€ăŠăźă°ă (Lady Oscar).
A character who embodies strength, beauty, fragility, and rebellion, still capable of moving and inspiring us today.
And no, I am not referring to the Netflix remake, but to the original series, which I truly recommend to anyone who wants to experience the anime in all its lyrical and dramatic power.
For this song I reworked the beautiful musical theme âOscar â Eienniâ by maestro Koji Makaino, transforming it into something completely new.
As always, I blended styles, genres, imagery, and poetry, kneading everything into my personal alchemy, bittersweet, gothic, and yes... definitely chocolate-flavored.
I dedicate this song

*LYRICS*
Couplet I
(Under the leaden sky, Paris weeps its thunder)
L'aube saigne à genoux sur les flÚches désertées ;
(Dawn bleeds on its knees over the deserted spires)
DerriĂšre ces murailles aux ombres en colĂšre,
(Behind these walls of wrathful shadows)
La Bastille gĂ©mit, prĂȘte Ă ĂȘtre Ă©ventrĂ©e.
(The Bastille groans, ready to be torn open)
Couplet II
Ă forteresse infĂąme ! Matrice de supplices,
(O infamous fortress! Womb of torment)
Sept Ăąmes emprisonnĂ©es hurlent Ă lâunisson ;
(Seven imprisoned souls scream in unison)
Chaque pierre tremble, complice des sévices,
(Each stone trembles, accomplice to the abuse)
(Beneath the step of a people led by their vision)
Pré-Refrain
Dans la fumée, surgit une guerriÚre,
(In the smoke, a warrior emerges)
Cheveux blonds au vent, le feu dans la poitrine ;
(Blond hair in the wind, fire in her chest)
(Clear and frozen eyes, like a final prayer)
Elle avance sans peur, comme une...
(She walks on without fear, like a...)
Chorus
« Feu ! Feu ! Prenez la Bastille ! »
(âFire! Fire! Take the Bastille!â)
Hurle-t-elle, la voix vrille la nuit ;
(She screams, her voice pierces the night)
« Feu ! Feu ! Quâattendez-vous, tirez ! »
(âFire! Fire! What are you waiting for, shoot!â)
MĂȘme Ă genoux, son cri brise lâoubli.
(Even on her knees, her scream shatters oblivion)
« Feu ! Feu ! Prenez la Bastille ! »
(âFire! Fire! Take the Bastille!â)
Hurle-t-elle, voix d'acier dans la nuit ;
(She screams, voice of steel in the night)
« Feu ! Feu ! Qu'attendez-vous, tirez ! »
(âFire! Fire! What are you waiting for, shoot!â)
MĂȘme mourante, son cri retentit.
(Even dying, her scream resounds)
Couplet III
(But suddenly the sentence bursts in the sky)
Un éclair de plomb perce son flanc offert ;
(A flash of lead pierces her offered side)
La rose se fane, fauchée sans rituel,
(The rose withers, cut down without rite)
(Falls into the thorns, erased in war)
Couplet IV
Crucifiée de chair, son serment éclaté,
(Crucified in flesh, her vow shattered)
Son corps glisse au sol, teintĂ© dâazur voilĂ© ;
(Her body slips to the ground, stained with veiled blue)
Son dernier souffle, murmure désarmé :
(Her final breath, a disarmed whisper)
Une rose abattue avant dâavoir aimĂ©.
(A rose struck down before having loved)
Bridge
Elle ne demande ni pardon ni lumiĂšre,
(She asks for neither pardon nor light)
Juste un ordre gravé dans le silence :
(Only an order engraved in silence)
« Avancez. Tirez. Que rien ne demeure. »
(âAdvance. Fire. Let nothing remain.â)
Et le feu répond, dans une transe.
(And the fire replies, in a trance)
Final Chorus
« Feu ! Feu ! Prenez la Bastille ! »
(âFire! Fire! Take the Bastille!â)
Hurle-t-elle, la voix vrille la nuit ;
(She screams, her voice pierces the night)
« Feu ! Feu ! Quâattendez-vous, tirez ! »
(âFire! Fire! What are you waiting for, shoot!â)
MĂȘme Ă genoux, son cri brise lâoubli.
(Even on her knees, her scream shatters oblivion)
« Feu ! Feu ! Prenez la Bastille ! »
(âFire! Fire! Take the Bastille!â)
Hurle-t-elle, voix d'acier dans la nuit ;
(She screams, voice of steel in the night)
« Feu ! Feu ! Qu'attendez-vous, tirez ! »
(âFire! Fire! What are you waiting for, shoot!â)
MĂȘme mourante, son cri retentit.
(Even dying, her scream resounds)
oh oh oh oh
Outro
Des mains rouges élÚvent son corps glacé,
(Red hands lift her frozen body)
La foule crie son nom comme un cri libéré ;
(The crowd screams her name like a freed cry)
Cheveux blonds devient le mythe effacé,
(Blond hair becomes the forgotten myth)
Une voix dans la foudre, jamais oubliée.
(A voice in the lightning, never forgotten)
