When I was free,

somewhere along the paths of school,

I suddenly found myself

caught in your innocent blue eyes…

Without telling you,

without you even knowing,

I quietly stopped

right beside you…

Not even knowing the letters well,

with a slow, trembling pen,

I wrote a few Sinhala lines…

all about you…

But…

when you fell in love with someone else,

on that path of love,

the poem I wrote

grew heavy with tears…

Though we stood

on two sides of an iron barrier,

you were loving someone else…

and I was just standing there in silence…

Even knowing you belonged to another,

I told myself you were his…

and somehow, my heart felt a little peace—

because you were happy…

I tried to forget those memories,

but every time I saw you,

I remembered everything…

and knew I could never forget you…

Without even searching for your love,

deep within my own heart,

I held onto this feeling

for almost three long years…

Among classmates,

through quiet tears,

I kept looking into those blue eyes…

still lost in you…

You were like the sun,

full of light…

but that light belonged

to someone else…

and I remained in the shadows…

Even if I hide in the summer,

this pain is too much to bear…

So listen…

if you are the only sun in my world,

then it is you… my love…

A love unlike any other,

my only one…

I will never meet you twice…

So…

in this world, even for a moment…
