Lyrics
The children learn in quiet ways,
Not all at once, not in a blaze.
A folded napkin, steady hand,
A glance that says “I understand.”
They learn to walk without a stomp,
To speak with grace, not shout or romp.
To ask with care, to wait their turn,
And know which stories twist and turn.
I teach with tone, not chalk or slate,
I sort the day, I set its weight.
My umbrella hums a silent tune
That tames the tantrums in the room.
The satchel holds what they forget,
A name, a dream, a mild regret.
It opens only when it must,
And seals itself with feathered trust.
They think it magic, and that’s fine.
I never say what’s truly mine.
But when the wind begins to roam,
They’ll know I’ve taught the house to home.
