What it is you believe

It is difficult to explain

Because belief is not quite the right word

We do not believe in a single god

Or many gods

Then what do you believe

That the soul is not localized

If I shine a beam of light onto a wall

You see the light

But the wall is not the source

The light comes from somewhere else

So the body is not where it begins

No

The soul does not live inside us

Any more than light lives inside stone

This form

This shell

Is simply how we perceive it

And the universe

Is it aware of us

We believe the universe itself is conscious

In a way we may never fully understand

It searches for meaning

So it opens itself

And shares its awareness

Through every form of life

Not to command

Not to judge

But to experience

Then we are not alone

You were never separate

We are participants

We are expressions

We are the universe

Looking back at itself

Trying to understand

And learning to feel

Again

And again
