Apep
Doom metal, metal
Lyrics
Intro
Instrumental: A slow, ominous bass line fades in, joined by echoing, distorted guitars tuned low (Drop A or B Standard). Drums enter with funeral-paced kicks and crashing cymbals. A touch of Middle Eastern/Egyptian scale melody for atmosphere.
Verse 1
In Duat's depths, a serpent stirs,
Demon of chaos, Apep, unearthed.
Scales of obsidian, eyes ablaze,
He hungers for the sun's last rays.
Each night he climbs the darkened skies,
To kill the light in Ra's own eyes.
Chorus
Apep coils 'round the barque of day,
To choke the dawn and steal away
The order of the waking world—
In chaos, his black flag unfurled.
The serpent king, the end of light,
Eternal, endless, swallowing night.
Verse 2
But Ra stands firm with spear of flame,
And Set defends the solar name.
The serpent strikes with venom dread—
Each battle fought, though never dead.
For every dusk, he strikes anew,
In darkness, ancient, grim, and true.
Bridge
And should one night the serpent win,
And Ra at last be locked within
Those jaws that span the universe—
A final, cold, and blackened curse…
The stars would dim, the moon would fall,
And silence claim and cover all.
Guitar Solo
A slow, mournful, melodic solo using Phrygian dominant or harmonic minor scales—evoking sorrow, grandeur, and inevitable doom.
Outro
So sleeps the world in fragile grace,
Each dawn but borrowed time and space.
And deep below, the serpent waits…
To seal all fates.
To seal all fates…
Music fades with feedback, slow cymbal decays, and one final crushing chord
