Waiting for the ride… like it’s gonna change my life.

Stood by the doors like a clown at a show,

thinking this metal ride would help me go.

Tap my foot, fake confidence on display,

truth is, I’m just killing time today.

Doors slide open, two strangers inside,

we lock eyes quick then look away like we died.

I step in slow, play it cool, no sound,

but the air gets heavy the second I turn around.

Smooth jazz hits, like it’s tryna be kind,

but it loops like the thoughts stuck in my mind.

Nobody talks, we just stare at the floor,

one ding closer, still nowhere near a door.

Elevator dreams, goin’ up on repeat,

we rise a little but we never leave our seat.

Doors never open, guess this ride’s my fate,

stuck between floors in a loop I can’t escape.

Maybe there’s no exit, maybe that’s the twist,

life’s just an elevator with a waiting list.

We float in silence, pretending we’re fine,

but deep down we know we’ve been here the whole time.

So yeah… doors might ding, but that don’t mean we’re leaving.

Some rides just don’t end.
