Lyrics
The legend of the Flying Dutchman is one of the oldest maritime phantoms spoken of by sailors crossing deep waters. In its most common form, the Dutchman is a vessel cursed to sail forever, never able to return to any harbor, its captain damned for defying the sea itself. Some tales say he challenged a storm and swore by God that he would round Cape Horn “even if it took until Judgment Day.” Others claim he trafficked with spirits of the deep, trading his soul and crew for immortality. Whatever the origin, sailors across centuries describe the same sight: a rotting ship with tattered black sails, gliding against wind and tide, lanterns burning with a strange cold light, and a silent crew of the dead whose faces have forgotten the memory of life.
Those who see the Dutchman are said to be marked. Some vanish, some go mad, and others return changed forever—speaking of voices in the waves and footsteps in the fog where no living man walks. The ship is less a vessel and more a harbinger, a symbol of the debt all sailors owe to the sea: that every voyage is borrowed time.
For Captain Jonah, the encounter is not a myth—it is the turning point of his mortal life.
His battles with storms and the unseen in the Bermuda waters left his soul strained and thin, but it was the Dutchman that took his leg and split his fate in two. The cannon fire was merely physical; the real wound was deeper—an encounter with what should not exist, what lives in the threshold between the drowned world and the waking one.
Jonah escapes with breath and blood, but not unchanged. From that day onward, the sea is no longer water to him—it is memory, judgment, and debt.
His final years lead him to the lighthouse. But the lighthouse is not a refuge.
It is the crossing point.
A place where the living who have seen the other side eventually drift.
A harbor for souls still tethered by fear, guilt, or wonder.
In the end, the Dutchman did not chase him.
It claimed him. Just slowly...
The lighthouse, finally, is the soul’s final threshold—a beacon for others, yet a prison for the one who keeps it.
No one truly guards the lighthouse.
The lighthouse guards them.
And thus, Jonah’s tale completes:
The sea took him first.
The Dutchman marked him next.
And the lighthouse finished what the storm began.

Capitão Jonah:
"Já contei como eu perdi a perna?
Pois bem…
Madeira apodrecida e algas no entorno
Canhões enferrujados, ainda a funcionar
O Holandês te leva...
Para o lado de lá...
Três dias caçado, pelo barco imortal
Já não acreditava que aquilo era real
A noite caiu e veio a neblina densa
Nós mal podíamos notar sua presença
Mas nas águas escuras algo se moveu
E ele voltou, em nossa frente apareceu!
Neste momento, vi o fim da jornada
O Holandês com a artilharia preparada
Os canhões rugiram como um trovão
sangue e fumaça entravam no pulmão
Chaminés quebradas e o casco furado
Marinheiros caídos e água por todo lado
Sombras que perseguem, mortos sem razão
Velas desgastadas, negras como a escuridão
Madeira apodrecida e algas no entorno
Canhões enferrujados, ainda a funcionar
O Holandês te leva...
Para o lado de lá...
"Faces esqueléticas
Olhos vazios
O Holandês
não conhece desafios
Sem calor e sem perdão
A sua alma em nossa tripulação!"
A caldeira quente ainda funcionava
O oceano outra vez, garantiu o meu retorno
Mas nem todos têm sorte no entorno
Ferido e assustado ainda vou me levantar
Eu me pergunto
se realmente voltei."
