Sprawl on the hill, feel the heart start to soften, evolve.

Fresh from the sickness, the darkness grew thick,

Time passed, we traded those heavy-old scripts.

No gratitude left, no meaning to save,

No value survives when it’s all too late.

Like fireworks burned out, exhausted and gone,

A lonesome, low-glowing sorrow-song.

Those topics, those words,

So foolish the night wind can’t carry them forward—eternal unheard.

At the witching hour, a madman stands still,

Chance made us meet, then it crowned us with kill.

The loach only thinks, wind bends the willow’s frame,

On the ancient road, only sorrow remains.

Whispers in fans, even language feels thin,

Pillow-talk circles where only we’ve been.

That fragile voice and the karma it bears—

Miss it once, and it vanishes mid-air.

What is the scream of an assassin at end,

As demons run wild where the dark thoughts descend?

Savage and tangled, grotesque to the core,

A triangle head with a child’s reckless roar.

Stylish, isn’t it—death’s painted grin?

Shade your right hand and hear the swan song begin.

Entered the register of the dead, yet still riots ensue,

One stone thrown again by the peony lantern’s hue.

Bancho platters, bowls counted rough,

Five court musicians, three ladies-in-waiting enough.

Prince and princess, sashes trailing through night,

Obituaries print well-side double suicides at first light.

Memories shaved down by tears over time,

Clothes soaked in long rains, a disheveled design.

Graceful, bewitching, recklessly free,

Day and night reeking of death, of bodies.

An obscene dusk rising stiff and aware,

Ghosts claw their way up the rocks, gasping air.

Lost and divided—who was he then?

The answer’s forever whatever the wind sends.

Leaves climb the eaves, street by street they ascend,

Starlight shivers in fragments that tremble and bend.

Even that fades in the thickening gloom,

In a town where the curtains drop early with doom.

Tonight, just like always, the ritual stays,

Tomorrow becomes someone else’s first rays.

So carve this wish deep where the epitaph lies,

A crazed morning breaks—

Even morning glories turn pale at the bamboo vendor’s flute.
