Smiling just to keep the peace

Everybody wants a version

Every room feels like a test

And I’m done trying to prove

I will never know

Is this real or is this fake?

Can I step outside the scene?

We just guess and guard our own

Trust is just a fragile word

In a room of stepping stones

But every mess I’ve ever made

I crawled out on my own
