Lyrics
The bones do creak and feel so weak
My muscles are so sore.
I wish I could and surely would
Return to days of yore.
When I was young and ran among
A crowd that didn’t tire,
We offered aid, fast trips we made
And put out every fire.
We helped the sick, arriving quick
To render healing care.
For it felt right both day and night
To make sure we were there.
But time moves on, my youth is gone
So now I reminisce
On days gone by and often sigh
For all those times I miss.
The wisdom gained from efforts strained
Now blesses me today.
I know I'm paid for impacts made,
Those gifts I can’t downplay.
It is my hope that I can cope
With challenges of age.
I hope I find that I’m more kind
While turning life’s next page.
