Broken Clown

Rain on the gargoyle

I found you in the dark

One pale hand, one cracked grin

Under the blackened ark

I dragged your name through thunder

I shook the grave awake

Tried holy water, bruises

And every vow I make

Say my name

Come back to me

I built this night

For you to see

Come back, broken clown

Come back, come back now

I won’t let you stay down

I drag you back somehow

Come back, broken clown

Come back, come back now

My enemy, my shadow

Come back, broken clown

I stole a box of lightning

From a churchyard door

Fed your bones the moonlight

Spilled over the floor

The city held its silence

As my hands turned red

I called your laugh to answer

But only got the dead

Say my name

One more time

I cross the line

You cross the line

Come back, broken clown

Come back, come back now

I won’t let you stay down

I drag you back somehow

Come back, broken clown

Come back, come back now

My enemy, my shadow

Come back, broken clown

I welded hope to fury

I nailed the gates wide open

If hell has got your heartbeat

Then let it start unbroken

Oh, I hear that laugh

Cut through the stone

If I have to burn the whole world

I’ll drag you home

Come back, broken clown

Come back, come back now

I won’t let you stay down

I drag you back somehow

Come back, broken clown

Come back, come back now

My enemy, my shadow

Come back, broken clown
