Lyrics
Chorus
Peace in our hearts, we’ll walk in love and truth,
Even through trials, Lord, we put our hope in You,
Turning from evil, chasing mercy every day,
Eyes fixed on Jesus, through the storm You make a way,
Risen Savior leads us on, in faith we will remain.
Verse
Similarly, wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, so that even if some refuse to obey the word, they may be won over without words through their wives’ conduct,
When they witness your respectful and pure behavior.
Your adornment should not be external—braiding hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on fine clothes
But rather the inner person of the heart, with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
For this is how the holy women of the past who placed their hope in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands,
Just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, addressing him as master. You have become her daughters when you do what is right without giving way to fear.
Husbands, likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker partner, since you are joint heirs of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will obstruct your prayers.
Verse
Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, showing brotherly love, compassionate, and humble.
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but on the contrary, offer a blessing, because you were called to this so that you might inherit a blessing.
For, “Whoever desires to love life and see good days must restrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deception.
He must turn away from evil and practice good; he must pursue peace and chase after it.
For the Lord’s eyes rest on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their prayer. But the Lord’s face is set against those who practice evil.”*
Who will harm you if you become enthusiastic about doing good?
But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. “Do not fear what they fear or be disturbed.”*
Verse
Rather, sanctify or set apart Christ as Lord in your hearts, always prepared to give a defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope you possess—yet do so with gentleness and reverence,
Maintaining a good conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame regarding the matters in which they slander you.
For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is God’s will, than for doing evil. The Example and Purpose of the Suffering of Jesus
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, in order to bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit,
In which He also went and made proclamation to the spirits in prison
Those who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in Noah’s day, while the ark was being constructed. In the ark a few people, specifically eight souls, were rescued through water.
This water symbolizes the baptism that now rescues you—not the removal of physical dirt, but the request to God for a clear conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subjected to Him.
